I’ve been waiting to create this blog entry for a looong time ! To be honest. :)
Every year in Aust~, a portion of Year 6 students apply for the Selective Test which helps students get into their desired Selective highschool. Not all kids do the test, only if you want to. I remember so many years ago, I did this test and it was quite nostalgic to see LITTLE PRIMARY SCHOOL KIDS, walking to the school hall to do their test.
Apparently, you have to pay for the test application :O. I didn't pay.
The test is usually done in the middle of March and I did my test on the 19th of March. It’s amazing how I can remember the exact date :O =D. I feel so Proud !!!
When I did the test, I tried to take it seriously but I didn’t concentrate on it as much as I could’ve. My parents were determined that I would get in.
Primary School Kiddies !
I don’t really like little kids cause they usually just stare at you for no reason. When I was walking to school, I saw some Year 6 kids wither her mum and dad looking for the school hall. The dad asked me where it was and I just showed him :) The girl was short too.
The Parents :|
One thing I knew that would happen for sure, is that all the parents would have serious, angry-looking expressions. It’s kind of like “This is a serious matter!” All they care about is their kid passing the test.
The Letter
I still remember a few years ago there was a letter sent to my house. I had one in Year 6, and it has my name, school, info and a code number on it. I saw a kid carry it with her.
The Test
This is all from memory. When you take the test, the test is located in a highschool hall. I remember I went to CHHS and the road to the school was crowded. I had to go line up outside of the hall and there were like a hundred kids from my primary school, whereas there were only 10-20 students from each primary school.
So, during the test, it was hard.. I guess.
There’s an English, Maths and Writing Test and we had one break in between.
After the Test
After the test, there is a huuuge crowd of parents waiting outside the hall with their SERIOUS FACES and CROSSED ARMS, waiting for their kid to come out. First question: “How was the test?” Haha, I looked around the parents and most of them were asian, only very few whites. Being honest :D
MCDONALDS !
My best friend and I did the test a few years ago and we went to go eat Maccas after the test. It was kind of like a little treat after a test. I also had the opportunity to go to back to school, but I just went home.
The final Result..
Around June/July/Aug a letter would be sent to you home to tell you your mark and if you got in the school you applied for. The mark is out of 300. Did I get in ? No. But I got in, in my second year :)
The only reason I’m writing this, is so I don’t forget about it in the future. It's quite cool actually, to see little little kids in the school because it's like a reminder of how I used to look like. Short and vervous. I have school picture day tomorrow tooo !
