Goodbye Los Angeles, Hello San Diego !

Goodbye Los Angeles, Hello San Diego !

USA: 3/4/11 SYDNEY: 4/4/11

I woke up.

View of my last morning in LA ! :(

It was so sad leaving LA :( Even though, we went to Disney Land most of the time, I was still going to miss the fancy hotels and large streets. My family packed our entire luggage. I even kept the receipts and pamphlets.

We waited in the lobby for my cousins to drive us to San Diego. My family was going to stay in San Diego for 8 days with my American family. Before we left, I took some pictures with Ceasar, our concierge, as memories. He was so nice, because he’d always be helping us and said ‘Hello!’ every time he saw us =D !

My mum checked out of the hotel and I was sitting in the lobby on the lounges with ALL the luggage around me. Behind the couch, were some little kids playing with toy trains. After mum, officially checked out, she returned the hotel key.

Mum and I decided to buy some gifts for ourselves and for other friends. The Red Lion Hotel, has a gift shop, mostly Disney Land-looking items. Most of the gifts were so expensive !

 Red Lion hotel Sign !

We waited for about half an hour til my cousins came to the hotel and picked us up. :) They had a huuuuuge car ! We boarded our luggage into their trunk, and left for SAN DIEGO !

On the way, I was taking my last look at the streets, hotels, shops and Disney Land !

My family and 3 cousins drove us some where in San Diego in a place called 'Little Saigon' in Orange County ! It was so cool to see Little Saigon, because in Sydney, there's an area with lots of Vietnamese people called Cabramatta. So basically:

Los Angeles: Little Saigon
Sydney: Cabramatta

Little Saigon sounds better, more original :D. Type up little saigon usa in Google or something.

When my cousin parked his car and my mum and I saw so many Vietnamese restaurants. It was so cool to see the 'Asian Domination'. My mum saw the rest of my American family and she hugged Aunty M (mum's sister). HAHA =D And I saw some of my other cousins that I have never seen before (Aunty KD's kids). We had some nice Vietnamese lunch :). So there was:

Aunty M & Uncle C
Aunty KD & her two kids (N & R)
my 3 three cousins
and my family.

Inside of the restaurant in Little Saigon !
Before we received out meal, I talked to some of my American cousins, N & R. They were really quiet and looked a bit shy when they saw me. I had no idea why. I tried talking to them with E as well. Why I was talking to E, N & R were laughing or like giggling. And I was just thinking "Did I do something?". Apparently, they said I had a cool accent... AHA ! Honestly, I could hear the difference between Australian and American but I just don't know what was so great about the Australian one. :)

After lunch, my family continued our journey to San Diego. My parents went in my aunty's car and I went in my cousin's car.

We ended up going to my cousin, E’s campus college. I think she went to UC Irvine, but the college rooms were so small. I liked them cause it’s kind of like your own little confined space where you can live the way you like :D.

We also walked around the streets of the campus and it looked very clean.

We hung around E’s campus for about half an hour until we had to continue our journey to San Diego. For some reason, I still remember a year ago that I slept for 45mins in my cousin’s car until we arrived at my aunty’s house in San Diego.

When we arrived, I was sooooo glad to be at my aunty’s house because I missed living in a house. They have a 2-storey house and it was so cold and seemed so hollow. The first thing I did, when I arrived, was that I lied down on the couch but it was sooo cold.

My aunty put all my family’s luggage away upstairs. We stayed downstairs for most of the time, because everyone was downstairs.

I watched some American TV and the weather forecast... it was so unusual to look at the West Coast on TV. My mum also gave some gifts from Sydney airport to my cousins. Uncle C also gave me a Casio camera that is 14 mega pixels, so I was pretty happy about that.

Before dinner, my cousins AA, A, E and I went to pick up AA's bother, Jimmy ! We arrived at his house and it was like a little quiet street. We went inside his house a little bit. My first reaction when I saw him was, he's like a Chinese Jesus.

He had long, beautiful locks of curly hair. I am le so weird :P

More of my American relatives arrived for dinner,
Aunty H & M,
Gran & Gramps,
AA, A, E and Jimmy,
& my family :)

Before we started dinner, everyone said 'Cheers' and clanked their cups against other people. My cup wasn't filled with water so I said "I don't have any water". A lot of people laughed at what I said... hehe, Just something I remembered. I must think I'm very cool.

We had Vietnamese food but I had some soup and meat, instead of stir fry and rice. I sat next to Gramps which was my grandpa's brother. While we were eating and I started to get a little bit sad and teary because he reminded me a lot of my grandpa at home, so much :(. =D He was my grandpa's younger brother.

He acted so much like my grandpa in Australia,
he puts a toothpick in his mouth,
he looks very wise,
he smiles a lot and is very friendly
...
they even read the same books !
So many of his actions reminded me so much of my grandpa at home.

While we were eating, my mum was talking about Aboriginal culture and the food that they eat, lifestyle and stuff.

Mum: "Aboriginal people eat grubs. They eat little worms and bugs and anything in nature"
Aunty H: "Oh, HAKUNA MATATA"

I literally wanted to laugh so hard ! HAHAHHAHAHAHAH... HAKUNA MATATA... disney movies.

After dinner, I took some pictures with my camera. The charger also has a power convertor, so I use it when I get back home in Australia.

My cousin A and I made chocolate-chip cookies ! :)

 Chocolate chip cookies !

I still remember A said that Jimmy is Chineesus.

I remember, I was talking to Jimmy and I was moving my arms around and Aunty M was holding a mug of coffee. My hand pushed the coffee to floorbut noone got wet. HAHAH. I am so cool.

We alos did our laundry at my aunty's place because we didn't want to pay for laundry at the hotel. It's too expensive.

Bye.
